At the beginning of January, we celebrated our mochi pounding event!

1月初めに餅つき大会を行いました!

The students all took turns by class to go out into the yard and pound the mochi!

生徒たちはクラスごとに交代で庭に出て餅つきをしました!

We were very lucky as the weather was sunny and warm!

天気は晴れて暖かかったのでお餅をつくにはぴったりの日でした!

Each student could use the mallet to pound the mochi while the teachers helped and added extra water when it was too sticky!

子ども達は先生に手伝ってもらって木槌を使って餅をつき、餅がベタベタしすぎた場合は水を追加しましたよ。

After pounding, the students could help to shape the mochi into balls using their hands and flour.

餅をついた後、生徒たちは手と小麦粉を使って餅を団子の形にするのを手伝いました。

When everyone had finished, we had made many mochi balls for the students to take home and enjoy!

全員が終わった後、生徒たちに持ち帰って楽しんでもらうために、たくさんの餅団子を作りました。
